HOW TO GET TO THE TOP

ABOUT THE TRAIL
The trail features gently banked turns on a compact gravel surface. There are a few short uphill sections that may require pedaling or pushing your bike—especially the first climb of 70 vertical meters. Don’t be discouraged! For the most part, the trail descends smoothly—totaling about 1,000 meters of vertical drop—so you can mostly focus on controlling your speed and enjoying the ride.
Rated blue (moderate difficulty), the trail is manageable for most riders but still exciting for experienced ones. A couple of short segments are steeper and more challenging than the rest (these are clearly marked). You can easily walk your bike through these sections if needed.
The upper kilometers traverse open mountain terrain, offering panoramic views in every direction. The trail then winds through a stunning and varied landscape: across mountain bogs, past airy viewpoints, into deep mystical forests, and open pine woods—before ending right in the heart of Nesbyen. The trail was initiated by Stiftelsen HallingSpranget and built by Trailhead Nesbyen.
TIME, EQUIPMENT & EXPERIENCE
Covering 17 km and dropping 1,000 vertical meters by bike is not to be underestimated—especially with kids. The recommended minimum age is 7 for children with basic biking experience. Younger kids should be confident riders. Families usually spend 2 to 4 hours from top to bottom. Faster riders can complete the ride in about 1 hour.
The trail requires endurance and basic biking skills. Good brakes and wide tires are essential, especially for young or inexperienced riders. A mountain bike with a suspension fork is recommended. A full-suspension bike is not required but will make the ride more comfortable. Bike trailers are not recommended.
You can rent trail bikes at Furi in Nesbyen. If you’re unsure of your skills, we recommend testing out Blåbærtrøkket or Storetoppstien (the lower section of HallingSpranget) first.
